Designed by Teóphile Seyrig (1843-1923), a disciple of Alexandre Gustave Eiffle, The Ponte Dom Luís I is a true icon of the city of Porto. The bridge is a marvel of late 19th century engineering and spans the Douro River.
If you are coming it from São Bento Station, you have two options. If you walk till Sé do Porto you can cross the upper span by walking or by subway. If you ride a bike go down till Ribeira and cross the bottom span to see the Porto wine cellars.
Once you have crossed the top of the Dom Luís I bridge you will find the Jardim do Morro (garden) and one of the most beautiful sights of Porto, with a unique panoramic view. If you crossed the bottom span you can ride your bike till the Jardim do Morro. Here it’s the place when you can take a beautiful photo and enjoy the Porto’s sunset.
Don't waste time, rent a bike and find the mysteries of this city!
